Heart.

I am soft – so soft.
I am bright, twirling light.
Gentle with my words,
If I can give you any love,
I will do so without a return stamp.
Please don’t give me
A payment I don’t need
Just let me do what I’m meant to do
Let me bleed in ways I must bleed
I will do so without regret.
I shine the best with a smile,
A cool flame that touches fevered hurts.
That’s the gift I’m given and a gift I shall give.
A shy touch is all that it takes,
So lean in and take what I can give.
Please don’t turn away
Thinking there’s a price you can’t pay
I promise you there’s only a fine print
That says, “Just don’t hurt the heart
Open to your gaze alone.”
